Thai Na Town - Little Oz 2012

The Art Centre, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok
1 December 2012 - 16 January 2013

This is a public-engagement project that celebrates Australia and Thailand’s diverse migrant populations. Srivilasa invites people to create with him, sculptural objects that represent what they miss about their hometown. This process stems from his personal desire to engage and share the multitude of stories of migrant experiences.

It was a two-part project that started in Sydney with Srivilasa working with the Sydney Thai community. Afterwards, in Bangkok, he worked with Australian expatriates to capture what they missed most about their hometown in mixed media sculptures.

The exhibition Thai-Na-Town – Little Oz featured the collaborative objects made during both workshops alongside Srivilasa artwork reflecting what he misses about Thailand.

Thai Na Town - Little Oz is supported by the Australian Government through the Australia International Cultural Council, an initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Commonwealth through the Australia-Thailand Institute.
