VACS Major Commissioning

Vipoo is filled with joy among his Happy Australian sculptures at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra.

Congratulations to Vipoo Srivilasa on receiving the prestigious new Visual Arts and Crafts Strategy (VACS) Major Commissioning Projects program (AUD $100,000.00) from the Australian Council For The Arts.

This generous funding will provide the opportunity to realise a major commission from the Australian Design Center, titled re/JOY. re/JOY is a collaborative, community-driven project that explores the emotional connection we have with objects and their role in our lives through migration stories and experiences. Through this project, Vipoo aims to draw out the complex feelings associated with overseas relocation, and the difficult journey to gain Australian permanent residency.

It is an honour and a humbling experience for Vipoo to receive this award, and the resultant project will no doubt make a lasting contribution to the Australian arts and culture landscape.
