Deity developed through a collaboration between art collector Subhashok Angsuvarnsiri and me.

The project began when I was introduced to his collection of Thai antique artefacts. I was particularly drawn to an intricately hand-carved wooden painter’s frame traditionally used to display religious paintings on an altar.

Working with Angsuvarnsiri’s team of artisans, we created ornate carved and gilded wooden frames to house my porcelain deity sculptures. Within these individual altars, the figures appear almost as performers on a theatrical stage, bringing together spirituality, craftsmanship and my own ceramic practice.
