The Sovereign Asian Art Prize
Vipoo Srivilasa has been shortlisted for The 2026 Sovereign Asian Art Prize!
The Sovereign Art Foundation was established in 2003 by Howard Bilton and Tiffany Pinkstone, who shared a vision of promoting contemporary Asian art in Hong Kong. By launching The Sovereign Asian Art Prize, they recognised an opportunity not only to celebrate artists, but to raise funds for programmes that use art to make a difference.
Finalists’ artworks will be presented in two free public exhibitions, staged from 24 April to 3 May 2026 at 9/F, H Queen’s, 80 Queen’s Road Central, Central, Hong Kong, and from 12 to 15 May 2026 at Phillips Asia headquarters in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, one of the city’s key arts and cultural hubs.
The final artworks were selected from a pool of more than 250 entries by 145 artists, nominated by 46 independent professionals, as well as 16 professional galleries invited to participate for the first time by putting forward artists through an internal nominating committee. This year’s judging panel comprises writer, curator, and museum director David Elliott (Chair Judge); 2025 winning artist Arpita Akhanda; independent curator and writer Manray Hsu; and Executive Director of Asia Art Archive, Özge Ersoy.
The judges will view the finalists’ works in Hong Kong and select one artist to receive the Grand Prize of US$30,000, and another to receive the Vogue Hong Kong Women’s Art Prize of US$5,000. A Public Vote Prize of US$1,000 will be awarded to the artist whose work attracts the most votes from the public. Visitors will be invited to vote for their favourite artist at the exhibitions or online. The names of the winning artists will be announced through SAF’s digital channels on 19 May 2026.
