My Sunshine Doesn't Come From The Sky, 2022

During Melbourne’s extended lockdowns and quarantine restrictions, I began paying attention to everyday things that I would normally overlook.

With professional opportunities on hold, I became more mindful of simple moments and found joy in nurturing and watching things grow. Spending time with my cats, tending to my garden and cooking traditional Thai food also helped ease feelings of loneliness and homesickness.

Through My Sunshine Doesn’t Come from the Sky, I reflect on my realisation that warmth and joy do not always come from somewhere distant or extraordinary, but can be found through gratitude for the small details of everyday life.
