COVID Superhero, 2020-21

Art Gallery of Ballarat, Victoria
19 February - 18 April 2021

Atta Gallery, Bangkok
26 November 2021 - 9 January 2022

During the global pandemic, I asked a simple question: What would a COVID superhero look like?

Working with the Ballarat community, I invited people to imagine a superhero who could help us through the pandemic. Many envisioned powers based on empathy, healing and peace.

Their ideas inspired ten ceramic superheroes representing resilience, courage and hope. I also incorporated reflections from my own experience of lockdown, allowing each figure to respond to both personal and collective anxieties and aspirations.

The project was a collaboration between the Art Gallery of Ballarat and the City of Ballarat’s Creative City team.

I also developed a similar project with ATTA Gallery in Bangkok in 2021.
