Trophy, 2018

In April 2018, I conducted public drawing workshops at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), hosted by the Australian Sports Museum.

I invited visitors to design trophies for family members, friends, pets, sporting heroes or other important people in their lives. Moving beyond traditional ideas of achievement, participants created highly personal designs connected to their own stories and relationships.

Drawing on these workshops and the Melbourne Cricket Club Museum’s extensive collection of sporting awards, I developed a series of sculptural trophies exploring the emotional and cultural meaning of recognition.

Trophy was supported by philanthropist and sports enthusiast Basil Sellers AM as part of my Basil Sellers Creative Arts Fellowship.
