In Home, I explore the complex relationship between home, migration and community.

When we move to another country, does home move with us, or does part of it remain in the place where we were born? Can creating a new community also create a new sense of home?

I explored these questions in collaboration with Melbourne’s Korean community. During a ceramic workshop, participants created sculptures representing something they missed about Korea and something they valued in their new Australian home.

Their stories of migration, cultural adaptation and community inspired me to create four artworks responding to their sculptures. Through the process, four recurring ideas emerged: family ties, communication, cultural heritage and personal connections.

The project considers how new relationships and communities can reshape our understanding of home.
