Monster by Hands, 2009

I In 2009, I became the first artist in residence at Thai Celadon, a family-owned ceramics factory in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand.

As a studio ceramicist accustomed to being involved in every stage of making, I was fascinated by the way factory production divided the ceramic process between different workers.

In response, I organised workshops inviting employees to create their own monster-themed artworks from beginning to end, allowing each person to take control of the complete creative process.

The resulting exhibition, Monster by Hands, included portraits of the participating workers alongside their creations. Through the project, I wanted to challenge traditional ideas about industrial production while celebrating individual
